Marracci Designs by Joanne Marracci
Little People Series - Dena and Joe
What appeals to you most about making what you make? I’ve always been in “creation mode.” I love taking a design challenge and engineering the solution – it’s like solving a puzzle. And I love to learn new things. With jewelry, there is always some cool technique to try and designing my own jewelry allows me total freedom to explore new ways of doing things using a multitude of mediums. Sometimes I wake up at 3am and have an “ah ha!” moment on how to put together the current piece I might be working on. It’s the discovery, the process and then it’s just icing on the cake that what I make has a purpose. I think the funniest moments are the happy accidents. And how cool is it that something I make may end up with a person that finds a real connection to it? I love the win win!
If you were capable of time travel where would you go? Each era seems to have its pros and cons, but if I had to choose one time, I’d probably pick a fairly recent 1940s – 50s – after the war, people still made things by hand but they were discovering new ways to do things from automation to trying to get to the moon – an exciting time of innovation. And the shoes were really cute.
