What appeals to you most about making what you make? Why do you make things? I like seeing things that blend in and stand out at the same time. I think art should be more than just decoration but should become part of its environment. I make things for my own pleasure and intellectual satisfaction. I show them to elicit a visceral response from my viewers.

What artists inspire you? Michelangelo, Roxy Paine, Matthew Barney, Kiki Smith, Louis Bourgeois and Lee Bontique.

How do you prepare for creating something? What steps do you take before actually making a piece? Most of the things I am making now have been done in my head for years. I am so far behind I don’t think I will ever get it all done. Studio practice is simply “basket weaving” the conceptual work is done during conversation and sleep.

What problems do you encounter in your art practice; how do you solve them? Not having enough time to actually make the things I have in my head. I haven’t solved that problem. My backlog just gets longer and longer and I just keep pushing forward.

What is your favorite music to listen to while you work? Angst ridden rock and roll.
