What appeals to you most about making what you make? Why do you make things? I love drawing directly onto my copper etching plate. It reminds me of practicing my cursive writing in grammar school with the fat pencils, and learning to sew with a needle and thread when I was a young girl. All are tasks of pleasure resulting in accomplishment.
If you were capable of time travel where would you go? Why? I’d go to the French Riviera in the year 1888. I’d spend January – April standing next to Claude Monet and watch him paint on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea looking toward Antibes. I’d ask him to explain what overwhelms him so intensely, so passionately with the beauty of the natural world, and could he explain to me why I wept when I saw his paintings at the Kimball Art Museum in Forth Worth, Texas.
