A Distant Thought, part 1 & 2
What appeals to you most about making what you make? The ability to access parts of my brain that I didn’t realize were even in there. Since moving to a new country, regardless of a major language difference, I was able to really process the intangible thoughts/ideas/issues that I was going through. All of these things were happening sub consciously. I would look at a piece 6 months later and be a little taken aback by what I had put out to the public…..
Why did you choose the medium you work with? I am not traditionally trained, as much as I would love to be. I love to work fast and with what is at hand. I started painting more “seriously” around the time of my first daughter and the tools that she uses to create art became mine. Rather than hunting for a pen or a marker sometimes U would pick up a crayon or kids colored pencil….it ends up being more fun that way too.
What importance do the materials that you use have to your art? Reaching distance. Time is always of the essence. I try to work fast to get the piece a long way towards completion before walking away from it. otherwise it can take months….though sometimes those are more worth the wait.
