Why did you choose the medium you work with? My medium and process is heavily influenced by screen printing for so long. My drawings really focused their intent for the process of printing. Using hatch, cross hatch & stippling to create my texture, value & depth. I use black pens on bleedproof paper. Even when I work in color, I start out by drawing with black ink and separating each layer of color on it’s own piece of paper. Once I’m done I pull it in to illustrator and stack my colors. Color separation as effected the way my eyes now see the world.

What problems do you encounter in your art practice; how do you solve them? I sort of love mistakes. It adds a human element of “error” to the final piece. In almost every drawing I can point out several mistakes – but in the end I don’t think the final viewer would be able to see the difference. It’s something I embrace. I use to sketch out with pencils, so I could erase problems – now I start with black ink and make the commitment from the beginning.
